  1. Oooh, I didn’t know about this, good to know! I’m not a teacher, but a lot of my friends and family are teachers. I’m actually going to work for a company that consults with school districts, so I’m trying to absorb as much as I can about the inner workings of teaching. 🙂

As far as improving my own craft (marketing), I usually learn on the job. But I also like to read industry news, which is crucial for learning about new developments. I’ve done a paid course on Photoshop basics and I’ve also done a few free CodeAcademy courses.

  2. I could get a master’s degree. If I advance to a certain level, I couldn’t go any further than that without a master’s degree. However, the time and money cost of the degree doesn’t make sense for me since I will be out of this career in a few short years. I’d rather put my money towards a new rental property or fixing them up!

I am absolutely in awe of all the things you’re doing: Tutoring, working on your boards, teaching, another degree….. you’re rocking it!

    • That makes so much sense, Gwen. It’s great that you’ve got such a vision for your future so you can see what does and doesn’t make sense. And thanks for the compliment! Sometimes I forget to give myself credit for everything I take on 🙂

  3. I’m not in an industry that rewards certifications or continuing education, so any sort of free time improvement is for personal enrichment, or for what I think it might do for me in terms of qualifying for a different job. The overall salary potential is better than teaching though, so that’s a bonus. Pluses and minuses in every profession.

    • You are absolutely right about that! I tend to think that there are lots of pluses in my work, but I’m 100% biased 🙂 I do love your comment about personal enrichment. Sometimes I fear that too much of me is wrapped up in what I do for a living.

  4. I want to be reincarnated as your student. Middle school forever!!! Wait…
I’m so glad that there are caring, motivated, intelligent, fabulous teachers like you caring for our children. Thanks.
